"Our house, is a very, very, very fine house..."

"...with two cats in the yard, life used to be so hard. Now everything is easy, because of you." (Our House, Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young)

While our house sadly does not include a yard, it does have two cats and it is very, very, very fine - at least we think so. And I don't know how hard things used to be, but we love living in this house and sharing it with our two lovely roommates, who are both colleagues of mine.

The hot season has arrived

It's getting hot - really, really hot. Topping 100°F/37°C every single day hot. I now a have a new appreciation for and deep understanding of this passage from Harper Lee's wonderful book (and one of my favorites), To Kill a Mockingbird:

"Somehow, it was hotter then: a black dog suffered on a summer’s day; bony
mules hitched to Hoover carts flicked flies in the sweltering shade of the live
oaks on the square. Men’s stiff collars wilted by nine in the morning. Ladies
bathed before noon, after their three-o’clock naps, and by nightfall were like
soft teacakes with frostings of sweat and sweet talcum."

The reason why we're here: Love146

Before I get to showing pictures of our cats (which are adorable), telling you about the traffic in Phnom Penh (which is terrifying), and probably not telling you how it smells around the meat stalls at the Russian Market (you don't want to know - really), I thought I'd start by explaining the reason why Philipp and I decided to come to Cambodia in the first place: my job at Love146. I've included two videos along with pictures to give you a complete a picture as possible as to why this organization drew us from half-way around the world and what my work here actually looks like.
